29th Technical Session and 24th Plenary Session of the ICC-Angkor

On Dec. 13-14, 2017, Ms. Weon Jihye, Deputy Country Director of KOICA Cambodia Office, Ms. Bae Kuen Young, Young Professional and Ms. Pen Vuthyda, Program Officer, participated in the 29th Technical Session and 24th Plenary Session of the ICC-Angkor in Siem Reap. During the session, Mr. Kim Jiseo, Project Site Manager, presented the progress of the Conservation and Restoration Project of Preah Pithu Temple Group. The restoration work of a terrace of temple “T” is done around 10% now and it’s expected to finish in Jun. 2018. Moreover, he also shared the new achievement of the project through the establishment of the APSARA Laboratory for Material and Structure and also the visit plan of KOICA-feasibility study team for the 2nd phase of the project. According to the schedule, the feasibility study team will visit the project site and have a meeting with relevant partners in 3rd or 4th week of Jan. 2018. Ad-hoc experts express the satisfaction on our project implementation and they recommend the 2nd phase of the project should be prepared to ensure the continuous rollout of this intervention.

In the evening of Dec. 14, KOICA team also participated to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Inscription of Angkor on the World Heritage List. From 1992 to 2017, many major temples and infrastructures in Angkor area have been conserved and restored. On Dec. 15, we were invited to join the 20 years of German-APSARA Conservation Project Workshop at APSARA conference room.
