MOU Signing Ceremony between KCNSA and Hyundai Agro (Cambodia)

Kampong Cham: The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Kampong Cham National School of Agriculture (KCNSA) and Hyundai Agro (Cambodia) was held on 22 January 2018 at KCNSA, Kampong Cham, Cambodia.  The MOU signing ceremony was witness by H.E. Om Kimsir, Secretary of State of MAFF when the MOU was signed by with Mr. Suon Serey, Director of KCNSA and Mr. Lee Chang Hoon, Managing Director of Hyudai Agro (Cambodia). Also, Prof. Lee Youn Su and nine Korean experts who have given their efforts to the Project of Quality Improvement and Innovation of KCNSA in Cambodia* attended the ceremony to celebrate this meaningful moment of KCNSA with over 200 KCNSA faculty and students and Hyndai Agro (Cambodia) staffs.

The MOU aims to set out a mutual cooperation to promote educational and industrial exchanges and to conduct internship program in the field of agriculture. Two parties will make efforts to promote and develop cooperation through activities such as exchange of human resource, agricultural information and materials, development of joint research project and organization of symposium, and provision of internship program to KCNSA students, and provision of specific information for course/curriculum in agricultural area necessary in the market of Cambodia.

The cooperation between Hyundai Agro (Cambodia) and KCNSA contributes not only to the development of two parties but also to the improvement of agricultural sector in Cambodia. This MOU will be good starting point of university-industry collaboration for KCNSA and agriculture sector in Cambodia, in particular, for agriculture in the eastern region of Cambodia since KCNSA is the only agricultural school which provides agricultural education in eastern region.

* The MOU is organized under the scheme of The Project of Quality Improvement and Innovation of KCNSA in Cambodia sponsored by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and implemented by Kangwon National University-Institute of International Rural Development (KNU-IIRD).  The project has two components such as master plan establishment and capacity building which comprised of textbooks development, invitation training program to Korea, computer lab establishment and lab equipment and teaching aids provision. The project is supported by grant aids from the Republic of Korea and it is implement from 2016 to 2019.

** Hyundai Agro (Cambodia) is a company with mango plantation operated by systematic and scientific system to produce pesticide-free mango. The company also operates fertilizer distribution division for the increase of agricultural production in Cambodia. Hyundai Agro (Cambodia) started to establish agricultural products processing center including a quarantine station to provide fresh healthy fruits and vegetables to Cambodian and the world. Also, the company is expanding its business into rice export to become a number one agricultural products distributor in Cambodia.
